PT XYZ is a manufacturing company engaged in manufacturing external tires and
motorcycle inner tires. The products produced are various types of tires that are
marketed domestically and abroad. The types of tires produced include scooter tires,
motorcycle tires, sports motorcycle tires and special use tires.
Under cure is a defect that often occurs in end products that results in high product
scraps that interfere with the process of shipping finished goods to consumers. For the
presence of companies in local and global markets, quality control tools are needed
that can maintain the performance and quality of the products produced. A quality
control tool that can be used to determine company process performance is the six
sigma method. The stages using DMAIC (Determine, Measure, Analyze, Improve,
Control) are expected to help reduce defects that occur. After the corrective action
taken by the Six Sigma method, it was found that the increase in the CPC value from
1.31 to 1.35, the DPMO value decreased from 7,625.8 to 5,315.9, the DPMO value
showed that the defect had decreased so that the sigma value increased from before 3
.93 to 4.06. This proves that remedial actions have a positive impact on reducing
defects that occur.
