Berkembangnya ilmu dan teknologi telah memberikan dampak dan perubahan
pada sektor industri. Pemanfaatan teknologi dalam proses industri memiliki resiko
terhadap kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja bagi pekerja. Dengan majunya
industrialisasi, mekanisasi, elektrifikasi dan modernisasi, maka dalam kebanyakan
hal berlangsung pulalah peningkatan intensitas kerja operasionil dan tempo kerja
pekerja. Hal-hal ini memerlukan pengerahan tenaga dan pikiran secara intensif dari
para pekerja yang akan mengakibatkan kelelahan, kurang perhatian akan hal-hal lain,
kehilangan keseimbangan dan lain-lain, sehingga dapat menyebabkan terjadinya
kecelakaan (Mangkunegara, 2001).
