Description:

220 Junior High School and 191 Junior high schools located in West Jakarta were the participants of the community service of Universitas Esa Unggul. They were chosen as they were recommended by Suku Dinas Pendidikan (Education Department) of West Jakarta region to be developed continuously. It was found some problems encountered by those schools in applying the school-based literacy program which is the national program determined by Ministry of Education and Culture. Those problems were students� reading and writing literacy had not been developed and their motivation to read and write as well their creativity had not been improved. The solution offered was the training of online comic making as the follow-up reading activity in order to develop students� reading and writing literacy. The methods employed were lecturing, website exploration, simulation, discussion, and presentation. The result of this community service was the development of students� reading and writing literacy as well creativity to reach better school-based literacy program.
