Description:
Tenaga radiasi nuklir pada saat ini sudah dimanfaatkan dengan sangat luas, hampir mencakup seluruh aktivitas kehidupan manusia. Misalnya dalam bidang kesehatan, industri, pendidikan, penelitian, pembangkit energi dan lain sebagainya. Dalam bidang kesehatanan khususnya, sinar-x lebih sering mengambil peranan dalam diagnostik medik dan terapi. Namun, sinar-x memiliki potensi bahaya radiasi terhadap pekerja, pasien dan lingkungan hidup disekitar sumber radisi sinar-x. Studi intensif yang dilakukan para ahli biologi radiasi (radiobiology), ternyata radiasi dapat menimbulkan kerusakan somatik sel-sel jaringan tubuh dan kerusakan genetik mutasi selsel reproduksi.
