Ancaman terhadap generasi muda yang dalam hal ini siswa sekolah menengah semakin mengkhawatirkan. Oleh karena itu, perlunya pembinaan karakter siswa yang tidak hanya menangkal ancaman tersebut tetapi menyiapkan mereka sebagai generasi akan datang yang siap menghadapi dunia yang mengglobal. Untuk mengakomodasi hal tersebut, pembelajaran di sekolah harus dapat mengembangkan karakter yang dapat memperkaya pengalaman siswa dan menjadikannya lebih tanggap terhadap alam sekitar dan lingkungannya. Karena dengan demikian, ketika di masyarakat mereka selain dapat memahami dirinya dan lingkungan sekitar tetapi juga dapat mengembangkan dirinya di tengah masyarakat. Kegiatan yang mengakomodasi hal itu adalah teater. Selain untuk menggali beberapa potensi, teater dapat mengembangkan nilai-nilai karakter generasi muda khusus siswa sekolah seperti disiplin, bersabar, mengendalikan emosi, bekerja sama dan lain-lain.

The threat to the younger generation in this case secondary school students is increasingly worrying. Therefore, there is a need to foster the character of students who not only ward off these threats but prepare them as future generations who are ready to face the globalized world. To accommodate this, learning in schools must be able to develop characters that can enrich students experiences and make them more responsive to the surrounding nature and environment. Because thus, when in society they can not only understand themselves and the surrounding environment but can also develop themselves in the community. The activity that accommodates this is theater. In addition to exploring some potentials, theater can develop the values of the character of the young generation specifically school students such as discipline, patience, controlling emotions, working together and others.
