Limbah cair industri farmasi merupakan salah satu bahan pencemar yang dapat menimbulkan dampak negatif jika dibuang ke lingkungan (badan air), sehingga perlu adanya Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah (IPAL). PT INDOFARMA (Persero) Tbk. merupakan salah satu perusahaan yang bergerak dibidang industri farmasi yang terletak di Cibitung, Kabupaten Bekasi. Salah satu yang dimiliki perusahaan ini yaitu Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah (IPAL). Limbah dari kegiatan industri di PT. INDOFARMA (Persero) Tbk. sangat bermacam, salah satunya limbah domestik (limbah pencucian alat pembuatan berbagai macam obat, laundry,dan kantin) yang jika tidak diolah terlebih dahulu maka dapat menimbulkan pencemaran air disekitar lingkungan. Maka dari itu adanyan Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah di perusahaan tersebut sangat bermanfaat apabila proses yang dilakukan sesuai dengan prosedur yang berlaku serta terjaga pemeliharaannya.
