Pendahuluan: Sprain ankle kronis merupakan overstretch pada ligamen compleks lateral
ankle pada gerak inversi dan plantar fleksi. Sprain ankle kronis menyebabkan instabilitas ankle,
yang disertai dengan reaksi penurunan kekuatan otot ankle karena perubahan aktivasi otot.
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui perbandingan efektifitas wobble board exercise dan
isometric exercise dengan wobble board exercise dan calf raise exercise terhadap peningkatkan
stabilitas fungsional ankle pada penderita chronic ankle sprain. Metode: Penelitian ini
menggunakan rancangan quasi experimental dengan rancangan pre test and post test two group
design. Dalam penelitian ini 9 responden diberikan wobble board exercise dan isometric exercise
selama 6 minggu dengan frekuensi latihan 2 kali seminggu, dan 9 responden diberikan wobble
board exercise dan calf raise exercise selama 6 minggu frekuensi latihan 2 kali seminggu. Alat ukur
yang digunakan adalah balance error scoring system (BESS).. Hasil: Hasil analisis statistik
parametrik dengan paired sample t-test, menunjukkan kedua kelompok perlakuan secara signifikan
dapat meningkatkan stabilitas ankle. Rerata nilai BESS sebelum perlakuan pada Kelompok I
dengan rerata 30,00�2,784 dan sesudah perlakuan dengan rerata 11,67�0,866 dengan nilai p= 0,001
(p< 0,05), dan sebelum perlakuan pada Kelompok II 31,67�3,162 dan Sesudah Perlakuan dengan
nilai 16,67�2,828 dengan nilai p= 0,001 (p< 0,05). Uji rerata nilai BESS post Kelompok I dan post
Kelompok II dengan Independent sample t-test diantara kedua kelompok signifikan dapat
meningkatkan stabilitas ankle dengan nilai Kelompok I 11,67�0,866, dan kelompok II 16,67�2,828
dan p= 0,001 (p<0,005). Rerata selisih nilai BESS pada Kelompok I 18,33�2,398 dan pada
Kelompok II 15,00�1,323 sebesar 3,33 dengan nilai p= 0,001 (p<0,005} menunjukkan adanya
perbedaan dalam meningkatkan stabilitas fungsional ankle. Simpulan pada penelitian adalah
wobble board exercise dan isometrick exercise lebih efektif meningkatan stabilitas fungsional ankle
pada penderita chronic ankle sprain daripada wobble board exercise dan calf raise exercise.

Background: Chronic ankle sprain is overstretched in complex lateral ankle ligaments in
inversion and plantar flexion. Chronic ankle sprain causes ankle instability, which is accompanied
by a reaction to a decrease in ankle muscle strength due to changes in muscle activation. This study
was conducted to compare the effectiveness of wobble board exercise and isometric exercise with
wobble board exercise and calf raise exercise to improve functional stability of the ankle in patients
with chronic ankle sprain. Method: This study used a quasi experimental design with a pre-test and
post-test two group design. In this study 9 respondents were given wobble board exercise and
isometric exercise for 6 weeks with exercise frequency 2 times a week, and 9 respondents were
given wobble board exercise and calf raise exercise for 6 weeks exercise frequency 2 times a week.
The measuring instrument used is the balance error scoring system (BESS). Results: The results of
the parametric statistical analysis using paired sample t-test, showed that the two treatment groups
could significantly increase ankle stability. The mean value of BESS before treatment in group I
with a mean of 30.00 � 2.784 and after treatment with a mean of 11.67 � 0.866 with a value of p =
0.001 (p <0.05), and before treatment in Group II 31.67 � 3.162 and After treatment with a value of
16.67 � 2.828 with a value of p = 0.001 (p <0.05). The mean BESS test post group I and group II
post with the Independent sample t-test between the two groups can significantly improve ankle
stability with a Group I value of 11.67 � 0.866, and group II 16.67 � 2.828 and p = 0.001 (p <
0.005). The mean difference in the value of BESS in group I was 18.33 � 2.398 and in group II was
15.00 � 1.323 at 3.33 with a value of p = 0.001 (p <0.005) indicating a difference in increasing
ankle functional stability. The conclusion of the study is that wobble board exercise and isometrick
exercise are more effective in increasing functional ankle stability in patients with chronic ankle
sprain than wobble board exercise and calf raise exercise.
