Masa remaja merupakan masa mengeksplorasi dan berekperimen tentang segala hal, termasuk identitas seksual mereka. Selama proses eksplorasi tersebut, mereka melakukan beberapa hal sampai pada sebuah komitmen tentang identitasnya. Terdapat empat macam status identitas yaitu identity diffusion, foreclosure, moratorium, dan achievement. Pada masa remaja terdapat tugas perkembangan yaitu identity vs identity confusion. Sehingga, diharapkan diakhir masa remajanya, seorang remaja telah mencapai status identitas tertentu dalam dirinya. Tujuan penelitian adalah melihat gambaran status identitas remaja puteri lesbi. Hal tersebut dikarenakan terdapat beberapa observasi mengenai remaja puteri yang mengaku lesbi pada masa remajanya, namun ketika dewasa kembali menjadi heteroseksual. Begitu pula sebaliknya
