Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is one of the major causes of mortality and morbidity in children. ARI symptoms is usually found in groups. ARI be a concern for both children in developing countries and developed countries. Children will be highly vulnerable to infection due to respiratory systems of the body are still low, which is why the prevalence and symptoms of ARI is very high for children. East Nusa Tenggara province is also the highest in the period prevalence of ARI amounted to 25.5%, according data of Riskesdas 2007. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the incidence of ARI in children aged 6-59 months in East Nusa Tenggara analysis data of Riskesdas 2007. The result showed that there was significant association between vitamin A supplementation with ARI (p-value <0.05), but there was no significant association between economic status, maternal education, demographic, nutritional status (WAZ, WHZ, HAZ ) with ARI (p-value> 0.05). The most influential factors on the incidence of respiratory infection in children aged 6-59 months in East Nusa Tenggara is giving vitamin A, so that parents who have children expected to regularly bring their children to the health service to get a capsule of vitamin A, in February and August.
