Description:

The important thing that must known in the children under five years nutritional status is each parent needs to pay attention to child growth because malnutrition causes negative effects such as slow growth, susceptibility to disease. According to data 2017, community participation coming to the Posyandu at Puskesmas Kelurahan Kebagusan by 62.26%. This shows community participation in bringing children to posyandu is still lacking. The aim of this study is determine the relationships of mothers characteristics, frequency of children attendance in posyandu to nutritional status. The type of research with cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used was the proportionate stratified random sampling with a sample of 88 people. Data analysis using chi-square. The results showed there was relationship between mothers education (p = 0,0001), mothers knowledge (p = 0,0001), frequency of attendance to posyandu (p = 0,0001) with nutritional status. There was no relationship between the mothers occupation (p = 0,196) with nutritional status. The conclusion of this research was the characteristics of mothers and the attendance of children under five years to the posyandu are indirect factors that affect the nutritional status. Therefore, children under five years need to active in attending to the posyandu.
