Description:

Press in Aceh is run out between nationalism and freedom. The reporting news in Aceh during war period from 1976 to 2005 aimed to achieve the consensus in a way to stop conflict and prevent more victims from Acehnese civilians. This research that focused on documents review to find out major functions of mass media in picturing the conflict of Aceh during 1976-2005. Some key issues concerning reporting of conflict were about integration of nation, cover both sides stories of GAM and TNI including the Acehnese civilians themselves, enforcement for supreme law, and anti violence campaign in mediating conflict resolution.
