Description:

As pre-service English teachers, we must know how to deal with planning and implementing the lesson plans. It is to help us teach more effectively when we become in-service teachers in the future. This study is to find out whether the teaching-learning process in teaching practicum is consistent with the lesson plan and to investigate the practices of pre-service English teachers in planning and implementing lesson plans for teaching English. This research used qualitative method and purposive sampling technique. The student majoring in English Language Education who completed the teaching practicum at school in the academic year 2020/2021 were involved in this study. The finding reveals that English pre-service teacher is consistent to implement the lesson plans. Although there are some activities that were skipped or changed because of the unpredicted condition in the class but lessons were continued. The pre-service teachers designed their lesson plans following the steps and templates from the school. They were guided by the cooperating teachers. They also used the school text books as the sources. Therefore, before teaching they prepared their complete lesson plans. In some stages of teaching practicum, the pre-service teachers changed the plan. In implementing the lesson plan, the pre-service English teachers struggle with managing time due to limited duration but they find their own way of dealing with the problem
